Rambo III (1988)

Plot: John Rambo’s former Vietnam superior, Colonel Samuel Trautman, has been assigned to lead a mission to help the Mujahedeen rebels who are fighting the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, but the Buddhist Rambo turns down Trautman’s request that Rambo help out. When the mission goes belly up and Trautman is kidnapped and tortured by Russian Colonel Zaysen, Rambo launches a rescue effort and allies himself with the Mujahedeen rebels and gets their help in trying to rescue Trautman from Zaysen.

What makes us think we will succeed in Afghanistan when many more before us have FAILED?
If anyones ever seen the movie Rambo III, Rambos Afghan guide tells Rambo that ancient people of mighty empires used to fear 3 things. A) The Tiger, B) The snake, C) Revenge of the Afghan.
Everyones tried to tame the Afghans before, mighty mighty empires before us have tried and failed miserably each time.
E.g The Macedonian Alex the Great conqueror of all the known world was turned back at the Hindu Kush (Afghanistan)
Full of frustation in not being able to defeat the Afghans he died of Syphillis due to his alleged homosexual liasions.
The Russians too have tasted an awful pill of defeat in that country.
The last time Britain was their we tried TWICE in the 19th century to take over their country but FAILED.
So is why is David Milliband so ignorant in saying "We will have to stay until the job is done" I mean why doesnt he stay their until the work is done and see how long he lasts with his sly face.
So what on earth makes us think we will win? What on earth do have this time around huh?
These Taliban we can kill millions of them but they will NEVER NEVER stop, history has shown these people will NEVER accept a foreign occupation. So my question why dont we just withdraw and smash that place to smithereens from the air, use chemical weapons, destroy all their Heroine crop and instead stop all immigration and beef up security at home?

In the long term Afghanis have been for sale to the highest bidder. they do not like outside interference but will tolerate it as long as there is payment..

I got a slide show (pics) of the guys over in Afghanistan showing the terrain and what they have to deal with to get from point A to point B.
There are pictures of their trucks stuck, flipped over, trapped, driving through mud, etc. etc..
It’s brutal.

Dems have wanted us to lose since 9/11. Dem politicians hoped we would lose in Iraq so they could score cheap political points against Bush. Now dems won’t have the stomach to fight a war in Afghanistan now that they’re in charge.

If people in your country plant explosives in your own buildings, then I don’t really doubt that they would nuke Afghanistan, but this is happening because of a new world order. Read about it. Iran is probably next.

Firstly, a lot of innocents will die because of that. It won’t stop support for terrorists. They are currently not popular with the Afghan people.
Secondly, its expensive to finance that sort of military operation.
Thirdly, actions like that can constitute to war crimes which no member of ISAF wants. I mean, who would?
And btw, I agree with the first answer.

Things change…
Farther more the fight is not against Afghanistan, its against the Taliban.
The objective is to bring down the Taliban by inspiring the Afghanistan people to remove the Taliban themselves…
